As UCLA students, we deserve the right to determine how our funds are invested. It is our moral obligation to not be involved in the systematic oppression and violence against Palestinians. This stance allows us to be NEUTRAL as it involves us taking our funds out and not being complacent or actively investing in brutal acts of violence.
The UC Regents also invest in companies profiting from the Prison Indus- trial Complex, supplying the raw materials for creating drones, engaging in labor law violations, environmental hazards; to name a few. As the United Arab Society, we comprehend the magnitude of the damage investing in companies engaging in violence like drone attacks through out countries in the Middle East and South Asia can cause. We value the lives of our Palestinian brothers and sisters and their right to exist in an apartheid free state, without the deprivation of basic human rights.
We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. Most importantly, we stand in solidarity with the Students for Justice in Palestine in endorsing the bill to divest from these companies involved in the Palestinian occupation.
